The Property: Our house "Kontoyiannis" offers a relaxed family holiday in self catering holiday apartments, a Cyprus Villa Holiday away from it all in sunny Cyprus. Our traditional stone built family house in Kalavasos village, in Larnaca District of Cyprus is about half way between Limassol and Larnaca.

We offer 4 large self contained apartments or we are happy to accept bookings for the entire villa. An ideal solution for several families holidaying together is a holiday apartment in Cyprus. Enjoy the ambience of a traditional Cyprus Villa in a friendly village community while still being just a short five minutes from secluded "Governors Beach" and restaurants. The house is very near the village square and all amenities.

It has its own secluded courtyard offering peace and privacy to its occupants - each apartment has it own patio or balcony. Our Cyprus Villa Holiday offers a friendly village community atmosphere just a short distance from beaches and a variety of leisure activities.

Kontoyiannis House is a traditional! Cyprus village house from the period before the 1890's with thick stone walls, lots of windows and built around a central courtyard. Wooden shutters are a feature of Cypriot architecture. The house plan is ideally suited for a holiday apartment in Cyprus.

Linen supplied. Cleaning and linen change every 3-4 days depending on the length of stay.

We offer our guests assistance with planning their holidays from taxi transfers, car hire to booking cruise or tours. This is done on request.

Apartment No.3: Upstairs single bedroom apartment with balcony overlooking the courtyard area. Sleeps 2 persons in bedroom plus 2 extra on double sofa bed in very large lounge. Kitchen area. Large bathroom.

Apartment No.4: Upstairs two bedroom apartment one bedroom has 2 beds the other 3 with balcony overlooking the courtyard area. Sleeps 2 persons in 1 of the bedrooms and 3 in the other, plus 2 extra on double sofa bed in very large lounge. Kitchen area. Large bathroom.

Location: Kalavasos is centrally located for the whole island, so it is a great place for a holiday experience that will allow you to visit the whole of Cyprus and at the same time see how the typical Cypriot passes his day. The village square is full of coffee shops where locals and visitors alike can enjoy a nice cup of coffee, a glass of the local Zivania or play a nice game of Tavli (or backgammon if you want the translated version). Tavli is a very popular Cypriot pastime enjoyed for years on the island.

We also have quite a few village tavernas and Ziggi fishing village which is just a few minutes by car is excellent for fresh fish. Governors beach is also just a few minutes away with excellent beaches and local restaurants.

Village Facilities include: Bank, General/Post Office, local shop, barber, hairdresser, cafe's, restaurants. We have our own Football Pitch as we have a village team. There is also an Orthodox Church and mosque. We also have a bakery, butcher, take away, fishmonger, fruit market and other shops at the crossroads nearby but you need a car for those.

The closest trails to our village are trail 3, The national forest park of Athalassa which is located on the outskirts of the Capital Nicosia and trail 5 Machairas Forest - Lefkara - Kato Drys - Vavatsinias which is very near Kalavasos. Trail 8 Kyparissia - Germasogeia Dam is about 20 minutes drive from Kalavasos. All the others are at most an hours drive from Kalavassos.

We have included a separate with a history of Olives and Olive Oil here in Cyprus. Guests who visit in the winter months will be able to help with the picking or they can always relax and watch everyone else do the hard work.

For those interested in herbs the new Herb Garden in Kalavasos is well worth a visit. You will be offered 3 different kinds of teas to try free of charge before you buy. Open every day except Sundays. See every step of the process from planting to drying.

There are quite a few places to fish in Cyprus, both the sea and man made dams offer quite a few choices. Amateur fishing and Fishing in Dams is outlined below.

Diving is also very popular in Cyprus, with a number of diving schools having excellent reputations. The most famous wreck in Cyprus waters is the 'Zenobia' which sank in 1980 The 172m (570) wreck is a must for all divers visiting the island. The Akamas peninsula is now earmarked as a marine park and the Akrotiri Fish Reserve near Limassol is very popular. (Akrotiri is about 30 minutes from Kalavasos).

Travelling: It is not very difficult to get to the house from Larnaca Airport. All you need to do is follow the signs for Limassol (it takes about 30-45 minutes to reach Kalavassos). It takes about an hour to get to Kalavassos from Paphos Airport.

a reservation. This can be paid by credit card. For extra persons (above 2 years old) add CY £ 5 per night to the price of the apartment. Air conditioning is CY £ 3 per day. Prices include linen and cleaning. Cleaning and linen changes every 3-4 days depending on the length of stay. Baby's cot is available on request at no extra charge.
