Rue
Dante, a luxury apartment in Nice, only 200 metres from the
coast - Nice, French Riviera
2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 2-6.
The
Property: Our
Five Star Apartment with two double bedrooms to accommodate
2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 people.
This gracious "belle
époque" apartment building - with its beautiful
façade, balconies, louvred shutters to all windows,
handsome solid front doors, marble staircase, wrought-iron
and mahogany "Edwardian" lift and high ceilings
- would grace the very smartest Parisian street. This is a
real "town" apartment, yet situated just two blocks
(less than 200 metres) from the Promenade des Anglais and
the beaches, and just 400 metres from the famous Negresco
Hotel and the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire (Palais Massena)
in one direction and the Musée des Beaux Arts at the
same distance in the other direction. La Cité de la
Buffa, the biggest covered market in the centre of Nice is
only 150 metres away. It has over 40 stalls selling top quality
fresh produce and a wide range of local specialities. All
the attractions of Nice are within walking distance and no
fewer than 8 bus routes pass the door - a car is definitely
not necessary.
You enter the building
into a marble floored hall with ornate ceilings and either
walk up the marble staircase or take the charming lift to
the second floor.
You enter the apartment
through tall double doors. This is a very spacious, light
and sunny apartment with high ceilings and generous sized
rooms. There is a hall with double doors to one side, giving
access to the large, south-facing lounge with an elegant dining
area (some 28m² or 300 sq. ft). There are two pairs of
full length french windows - one pair has an ornate wrought-iron
balustrade balconnette facing the street, the other pair giving
access to a balcony overlooking the street. There is a CD/cassette
player/radio, DVD player and a television, should you have
time to watch it! All the furniture and furnishings throughout
the apartment are in the Louis XVI style and there are beautiful
antique chandeliers in every room - even the kitchen and the
bathroom!
Also from the hall,
to the other side, there are again double doors into Bedroom
One, which is spacious and elegant. There are twin-linked
beds with separate mattresses, which can therefore be separated
if you wish. Full-length windows with a wrought-iron balustrade/balconette
give a view over a well-maintained "cour" (inner
courtyard). There is plenty of wardrobe space.
Extra
information: Because
the apartment is what the French call "traversant"
(running from the front of the building through to the back)
you have light from the south and north and through-air -
very important on hot days and nights.
Bedroom 2, again
accessed from the hall and south facing, has full-length windows
and an ornate, wrought-iron balustrade/balconette. There is
a very comfortable sofa bed with proper mattresses which,
unusually, is designed to give either a single bed or two
separate single beds, or by placing the 2 singles side by
side, a double bed can be made. There is again a large wardrobe.
There are 2 fold-up
beds with proper mattresses, which are normally stored out
of the way, thus providing a fifth and sixth bed. These can
be utilised in the lounge, therefore creating 3 separate sleeping
areas if required.
There is a large
well-fitted bathroom with a window, bath, shower facility
and wash basin. There is also a separate toilet with wash
basin. Both the toilet and the bathroom can be accessed without
disturbing the other occupants.
The kitchen is
typically French and with room for everyone to sit for breakfast.
There is a brand new fridge, hob and oven, microwave, electric
kettle, toaster, cafétière and washing machine/dryer.
Like our other
apartments, there is also central heating, if you should ever
need it. This apartment is a very elegant home-from-home and
is beautifully furnished and extremely well-equipped to the
same very high standard as our other apartments.
We believe that
you should enjoy the same high standards when you are on holiday
as you have the rest of the year when you are in your own
home.
Location:
Nice is a warm, vibrant, fascinating and highly cultural
resort city at the heart of the French Riviera. It offers
a thousand delights and surprises for everyone who has the
opportunity to get to know it: enjoy the world famous Promenade
des Anglais and the Negresco (Wedding Cake) Hotel, the Russian
church and all the other wonderful architectural sites and
attractions, the Sardinian neighbourhoods around the old Port,
the Victorian avenues of Cimiez, and the breath-taking panorama
at Mont Boron.
Not to
be missed are the narrow, fascinating streets of the Old Town
(Vieux Nice), the footpaths that link up the hills, casual
strolls around deluxe boutiques in the town's pedestrian areas,
the colourful Flower Market (Cours Saleya), the peaceful and
relaxing Chateau Hill overlooking the stunning Bay of Angels
and, of course, the Antiques Quarter. You must see the beautiful
Place Massena with its impressive fountains, the 18th century
Place Garibaldi and all the other picturesque garden squares.
If you love to laze on the beach there are more than a dozen
to choose from. If its the nightlife and the casinos you`re
after, there`s plenty of that too. Also, Nice must have more
than a thousand restaurants, brasseries, bars and cafes each
with its own unique atmosphere and ambience and you will certainly
have great fun in discovering your own favourites!
Nice is
second only to Paris in the whole of France for the number
and variety of its museums, galleries and exhibitions; it
has a wonderful Opera House, similar to La Scala, several
concert halls and countless attractions to suit every possible
taste and interest that would take you months to fully explore.
Two miles in the other direction, couple this with the old
town and beautiful bay of Villefranche sur Mer and the spectacular
peninsular of Cap Ferrat, and you have everything your heart
could desire. These are without doubt our three favourite
places on the whole of the French Riviera (and in the world)
and they are all next to each other!
Travelling:
Every
day of the year there are flights from all over the UK, and
other parts of the world, direct to Nice. By taxi, hire car
or private car, all of self catering apartments are conveniently
within ten minutes of Nice Airport. Nice is the perfect central
location from which to visit (by car, bus or train) Monaco,
Monte Carlo and Menton, a few miles east along the seashore.
And to the west, Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, Cannes and St. Tropez.
Inland is Grasse, the famous perfume capital of the world,
and countless enchanting hill-top villages. There are many
ski resorts within an hour's drive.
