Rue
Bottero, a beautiful apartment in the heart of Nice - French
Riviera
2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 2-5.
The
Property: An
appealing two bedroomed apartment in a beautiful bourgeois
building to accommodate 2, 3, 4 or 5 people.
This town apartment
is situated in a quiet street, just 3 blocks (about 300 metres)
from the Promenade des Anglais and the beaches, and just 500
metres from the famous Hotel Negresco and the Palais Masséna.
La Cité de la Buffa, the biggest covered market in
the centre of Nice is only 50 metres away. It has over 40
stalls selling top quality fresh produce and a wide range
of local specialties. All the attractions of Nice are within
walking distance, with convenient bus routes running past
the end of the street – a car is definitely not needed.
You enter the building
through tall double wrought iron doors into a marbled floor
hall and take the lift to the fourth floor. The apartment
is spacious and bright with high ceilings. All the rooms still
retain the original marble fire places, and two have the original
wooden parquet flooring. It has been professionally restored
throughout to the highest standard. All the furniture and
furnishings, and the kitchen appliances are brand new. There
is an entry phone system.
From the large
entrance hall, the first door leads to Bedroom One. It has
full length windows with a marble balconette giving views
over well maintained gardens. It has wooden parquet flooring
and an original marble fireplace. There are twin beds, which
can be put together to make a superking-sized bed, or separated
make make 2 single beds. There is a tall wardrobe and a chest
of drawers.
Further along the
entrance hall is the lounge with an original marble fireplace,
wooden parquet flooring and a splendid antique chandelier.
It has tall windows giving the same views as Bedroom One.
There is a beautiful Moroccan hand-carved sofa which seats
two, 2 leather easychairs, and dining table and chairs. There
is a CD/cassette player/radio, and a television, should you
have time to watch it. There is a DVD player, should you wish
to bring your favourite movies with you.
The apartment is
what the French call ‘traversant’ (running from
the front of the building through to the back) so you have
through air – very important on hot days and nights.
Bedroom Two, accessed
from the other side of the hallway and further along, faces
east and has tall windows overlooking inner gardens. It has
oak flooring and an original marble fireplace. There is a
double bed and a large wardrobe with shelving.
There is a single
fold-up bed with a proper mattress, which is normally stored
out of the way in a cupboard, thus accommodating a fifth person.
This can be utilised in the lounge, therefore creating 3 separate
sleeping areas if required.
Extra
information: The kitchen is equipped with fridge/freezer,
cooker, microwave, cafetière, electric kettle and toaster.
An iron and ironing board is provided. The bathroom has a
window and is well fitted with bath/shower facility and wash
hand basin. There is a washing machine, and a hairdryer is
provided. The separate toilet has a window and a wash hand
basin. There is central heating, if you should ever need it.
It is truly a home-from-home.
Location:
Nice is a warm, vibrant, fascinating and highly cultural
resort city at the heart of the French Riviera. It offers
a thousand delights and surprises for everyone who has the
opportunity to get to know it: enjoy the world famous Promenade
des Anglais and the Negresco (Wedding Cake) Hotel, the Russian
church and all the other wonderful architectural sites and
attractions, the Sardinian neighbourhoods around the old Port,
the Victorian avenues of Cimiez, and the breath-taking panorama
at Mont Boron.
Not to
be missed are the narrow, fascinating streets of the Old Town
(Vieux Nice), the footpaths that link up the hills, casual
strolls around deluxe boutiques in the town's pedestrian areas,
the colourful Flower Market (Cours Saleya), the peaceful and
relaxing Chateau Hill overlooking the stunning Bay of Angels
and, of course, the Antiques Quarter. You must see the beautiful
Place Massena with its impressive fountains, the 18th century
Place Garibaldi and all the other picturesque garden squares.
If you love to laze on the beach there are more than a dozen
to choose from. If its the nightlife and the casinos you`re
after, there`s plenty of that too. Also, Nice must have more
than a thousand restaurants, brasseries, bars and cafes each
with its own unique atmosphere and ambience and you will certainly
have great fun in discovering your own favourites!
Nice is
second only to Paris in the whole of France for the number
and variety of its museums, galleries and exhibitions; it
has a wonderful Opera House, similar to La Scala, several
concert halls and countless attractions to suit every possible
taste and interest that would take you months to fully explore.
Two miles in the other direction, couple this with the old
town and beautiful bay of Villefranche sur Mer and the spectacular
peninsular of Cap Ferrat, and you have everything your heart
could desire. These are without doubt our three favourite
places on the whole of the French Riviera (and in the world)
and they are all next to each other!
Travelling:
Every
day of the year there are flights from all over the UK, and
other parts of the world, direct to Nice. By taxi, hire car
or private car, all of self catering apartments are conveniently
within ten minutes of Nice Airport. Nice is the perfect central
location from which to visit (by car, bus or train) Monaco,
Monte Carlo and Menton, a few miles east along the seashore.
And to the west, Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, Cannes and St. Tropez.
Inland is Grasse, the famous perfume capital of the world,
and countless enchanting hill-top villages. There are many
ski resorts within an hour's drive.
