Location:
From our home, you can easily explore the city by
foot. Stroll 5 minutes down a quiet street to Kitsilano Beach,
2 blocks away.
Even in winter the ocean views are stunning! Grab a Starbucks
coffee across the street or play at the public courts or swim
in the huge outdoor pool. From this beach you can walk or
bike along the waterfront for miles past Granville Island,
downtown and Stanley Park. Go the other direction to University
of British Columbia and Pacific Spirit Park.
Stroll down quiet
residential streets, past a huge totem pole, to Vanier Park
home of the Vancouver Museum and Planetarium. In summer it
hosts Bard on the Beach (nightly Shakespearian theatre) and
the Children's Festival. On windy days you can watch locals
fly enormous kites from this ocean blown point.
From here you can take the little passenger ferry 10 minutes
ride across the water to the Aquatic Centre (a huge indoor
pool and fitness center) nearby downtown & Stanley Park.
Or you can easily stroll 15 minutes, past a Marina to Granville
Island and the Kids Only Market. You can visit the public
market, (pictured below) watch the buskers, find beautiful
unique handmade gifts from around the world or attend a play
in one of the several live theatres.
Stanley Park, the largest city park in Canada, and its famous
totems. You can visit the Aquarium, the Zoo, and the local
artists selling their wares. You can play pitch & putt
golf, hike the park trails, ride the miniature train or take
a horsedrawn tour . On summer evenings you can attend Theatre
Under the Stars. Any time of the year you can walk, bike or
rollerblade the 6 mile seawall surrounding the huge forested
park.
Maybe sea kayaking for a day on the water, a golf game on
one of many local courses or a hike in the nearby parks and
mountains. We are also close to historic Gastown with it's
cobble stone and steam clock whistle every hour on the hour,
the only one of its kind in the world & Chinatown, second
only to San Francisco's!
A drive across the Lions Gate Bridge takes you to the North
Shore. The Capilano suspension bridge, Vancouver's oldest
and most famous attraction! Cypress Mountain, Mount Seymour
and Grouse Mountain which are the local mountains for skiing,
snow shoeing, snow tubing, summer hiking and spectacular views
of the city and the surroundings.
The Vancouver area has more than 16 downhill ski resorts within
a five-hour drive of the city limits. Some as close as 15
minutes-right over on the North Shore. Whistler Resort is
a ski lover's paradise. The number one ski resort in North
America is just a 2 hour drive from Vancouver.
Travelling: If
coming from Vancouver International Airport: Take the main
exit from the parking lot and continue along Grant McConachie
Way. You will end up on the Arthur Lang Bridge. Take the Granville
St. exit and continue on Granville until you arrive at 16th
Ave. Turn left at 16th Ave and continue west 3 blocks to Burrard.
Turn right on Burrard and continue straight 16 blocks to the
very bottom before you cross the Burrard St. Bridge. Rather
than crossing the bridge, get into the left turning lanes
which will lead you onto Cornwall. From there, Walnut is the
3rd street to your right--Walnut is one short block past the
traffic lights. You will likely notice the "we love cats"
sign at the veterinary clinic which is on the corner of Burrard
and Cornwall. That is where you turn right. We are down that
block and the first house on your right!
